Assured Vehicle Autonomy (AVA) Lab

NAViTi lab

The Assured Vehicle Autonomy (AVA) Lab aims at improving safety in autonomy by developing advanced sensor systems. Our lab designs, evaluates, and tests multisensory navigation, tracking, and mapping methods for automated air and ground vehicles. We develop cognizant systems that are resilient to sensor failures and cyber attacks.  Sensors include Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), radar, and inertial measurement units (IMU) used in commercial aviation and automotive applications.

Our research interests include:

  • high-accuracy position, velocity, and orientation estimation
  • autonomous integrity and continuity monitoring
  • multi-constellation GNSS for safety-critical applications
  • situational awareness
  • simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM)
